Compacted wire rope has been designed with strength and resistance in mind. The addition of plastic impregnation further enhances the benefits of the 8x26 rope; this construction will be seen as 8x26 PIR + C in some format. C = compacted; PIR = plastic impregnated rope.
Rope with the numbers 8x26 has 8 bundles/strands of 26 wires making up its construction.
This makes up the outer layer of this specific rope, there is an additional 7x7 compacted wire core with plastic impregnated material in-between the layers. The difference with compacted rope is that it has been fed through a special machine afterwards, to compact each of these strands and closer together which reduces the voids between wires. The plastic filler further fills these voids and protects internal wires against abrasion thanks to reduced pressure.
This compacted nature and PIR filler adds an extra layer of strength and resistance whilst improving the ropes behaviour.
It also has a good level of resistance against bend fatigue, as well as being easier to handle thanks to its smooth nature.
The 8x26 PIR compacted rope is available in diameters from 16mm up to 32mm.
