Man made Fibre Ropes
Polyester, polypropylene and nylon are all man made fibres typically made through a chemical process to produce threads which are then twisted into thicker cords and ropes.

What are Man made Fibre Ropes?
When we talk about man made fibre ropes it includes all rope, twine and cord that has been produced from man made fibres. Nylon, polyester and polypropylene are common place in the market today. Each have their own specific features and properties.
Polyester Rope
Polyester is a resilient fibre with excellent resistance to UV rays and mildew and does not float. It is soft, super strong and easy to splice. One of its key properties is its minimal stretch, even when wet and thus is suitable for anchoring lines, mooring and fender lines and other tasks which need a stable rope. That said because there is so little stretch properties this rope would not handle shock loads well. This highly flexible rope has good abrasion resistance and resistance to chemicals whilst having a high melting point of 295 degrees C.
Polypropylene Rope
Polypropylene ropes are very hard wearing and unlike polyester it does float, thus ideal in marine environments. They are salt water and chemical resistant with a melting point of 160 degrees C. Its light, buoyant nature enables it to be used in many general purpose applications as well as anchor lines, mooring ropes , rescue throw bags and fender lines.
Nylon Rope
Nylon ropes possess high strength qualities and are very flexible, so coil nicely. It is easy to splice, even onto chain. A key feature of nylon rope is its excellent stretch properties which enable it to handle shock loads. After it has stretched whilst under load/tension it will return to its original state thanks to the elastic properties. UV, chemical and and mildew resistant this super strong rope will typically outlive most other types.
