Manufactured from mild steel the 6mm and 8mm metric threaded models are electro-galvanized whereas models above 10mm have been hot dipped for extra corrosion protection.

The closed body design is more aesthetically pleasing than the open body turnbuckle design and therefore more commonly used where the look is just as important as the strength and other dynamics. The eye termination at either end enables the attachment of many types of hardware. It is easily adjustable in length by turning the centre barrel. With one end being left threaded and the other being right hand threaded each end will move in tandem, turn one way to shorten / apply more tension and the other to lengthen / loosen.
