Tirfor Winch – TU Range
Suitable for heavy duty lifting, pulling and tensioning applications the Tirfor TU range of cable pulling winches can be used in any direction/orientation for a wide range of tasks.
Easy to install, operate and maintain the Tirfor is a great addition to anybodies work van.
The three models are;
TU8 with a lifting capacity limit of 800kg
TU16 with a lifting capacity limit of 1600kg
TU32 with a lifting capacity limit of 3200kg
The WLL can be increased using appropriate sheaves by a competent person. Always refer to the manufacturers instructions. Also see the Tirfor principle documentation above for further clarification.
Tirfor Cable Pulling Machine Features
To anchor the main body to a suitable anchor point the TU8 & 16 use a safety hook with sprung latch; the largest model the TU32 has a removable anchor pin with additional locking spring pin instead.
Overload protection comes in the form of shear pins, these can be replaced (replacement set included) should overloading occur. Be sure to inspect all parts including wire rope which will probably need replacing after overloading.
The jaws that hold and move the cable use a hand over hand type motion and are self-energising and load proportional which means the more force or heavier load is applied the firmer the jaws will grip.
A telescopic handle is included and can be used on both the forward and reverse operating levers. The longer handle means easier operation. A rope release function enables the jaws to be released so the wire rope can be pulled through at a speedy pace without hindrance.
Tirfor Winch Rope and Installation
Only Tirfor rope should be used with tirfor machines, this is because they have a specific construction that can withstand the particular stresses applied when used with a Tirfor machine. Tirfor ropes have a visible red strand for easy identification. Precise diameters are also needed for each model. The TU8 uses an 8.3mm cable; the TU16 uses 11.5mm and the TU32 uses a 16.3,mm cable.
One end of the cable will be terminated with a steel thimble eye which incorporates a safety hook with sprung latch. The other end is finished with a fuse and taper, this seals the strands together and enables the cable to be threaded through the machine.
Any length of cable can be used with these machines though we offer standard lengths between 10 metres and 60 metres, these lengths should suit most tasks.
Similar Cable Pullers
Other then the Tirfor Tu range we can also supply the Deltafor cable pulling machine with the same lifting capacities and a stipulated pulling capacity. These come with 20 metres of wire rope as standard and conform to the necessary standards.
