When deciding on the end fittings you would like determine the type of load you will be lifting, the frequency of load changes, size and weight.

Clevis type fittings can be removed, therefore should you need to change them for another hook type this is achievable. Standard sling hooks with safety latches are one of the most popular, however if you are likely to need a wider throat opening on you hook then opt for a self locking type which come in a clevis type fitting or a swivel eye type fitting (permanent).

Other fitting options include a clevis C hook which is an open hook with no safety latch. Shortening grab hooks with a eye type fitting are also popular; these permanently fit into the master link and are used to shorten the chain – useful for odd shaped loads or when you need shorter chain lengths to better suit the lifting application.
