Polyester Rope Basics

Polyester ropes are one of the most widely used ropes thanks to its high strength, durability and resistant properties. Produced from 'PET' fibres (polyethylene terephthalate) which can be twisted and braided in different ways.

While natural fibre ropes tend to stretch and degrade over time, man made polyester rope possesses minimal stretch so will remain strong, stable and resilient as time passes. It can cope with heavy loads, although will not fair so well if shock loaded. It is mildew resistant and UV resistant. We have other types of man made rope available too.

Polyester Fibre Rope Features

If you need polyester rope, we can supply you with as much as you require. It is a popular choice amongst our fibre rope collection, since its synthetic nature allows it to withstand conditions that would leave cotton and sisal rope in a bad state.

It shares many features with our polypropylene rope, such as its ability to stay safe and secure in places where moisture is present. Matched with its resilience in the face of extended sunlight exposure, (far better than nylon rope) it is well suited to outdoor use. Bear in mind this dense rope does not float.

The fact that polyester has little stretch qualities is another strength, and is ideal for applications where minimal elongation is critical, for example - anchor lines, halyards and rigging. Shock loading must be avoided as the forces absorb poorly through the polyester. Nylon is better for these scenarios.

You can use it for DIY at home, or buy it to deploy in a commercial setting. It is easy to handle, and commonly used in rescue operations, towing, arborists and lifting, in fact anywhere you need precise load control.
