Galvanizing a length of wire rope means that the steel strands, which would otherwise be susceptible to rusting, are covered over by an incredibly thin layer of zinc. The result is that even exposure to sea water will do little to tarnish the surface of this 1x19 rope and its similarly equipped stable mates.
