Units 16 & 17 The Wallows Industrial EstateWIRE ROPE ACCESSORIES AND END FITTINGS part 2
Continuing from last week will be information on our wire rope accessories and end fittings, including terminals, shackles, wire rope grips, hooks and eye bolts.
TERMINALS:
Wire rope end terminals are available in a wide variety, including fork terminals,
eye terminals, threaded terminals, toggle terminals, rod terminals and stud terminals,
often used along with the rigging screw / turn buckles, and used for connecting the wire rope to a fixing point for securing.

ROPE GRIPS:
Rope grips can be extremely useful where splicing and socketing is not feasible, or a temporary joint is required, providing a very strong connection.
Rope grips can be used on wire rope or fibre rope connections or complete loops, or end to end connections.

SHACKLES, EYE BOLTS AND HOOKS:
SHACKLES are removable links to connect wire rope to other fittings. Screw pin shackles are good for non permanent applications where as safety bolt shackles are best on long term or permanent applications.
EYEBOLTS are used on lifting machines to lift objects which cannot be lifted by hand or fork lift.
HOOKS are also used in lifting systems as a connection between the load and the rope / sling, and are often fitted with safety catches.
